1. Does WebCaster work with multi-cast networks?
Yes, WebCaster is designed to work with multi-cast networks, enabling you to reach very large audiences without putting too much strain on network resources.
2. Does WebCaster work with Windows Media Player and Silverlight?
Yes, with the current release of WebCaster, you can stream your webcast video out using Windows Media, even though our product is based on Flash® technology.
3. How many people can watch a webcast on Webcaster?
WebCaster is the industry’s most scalable webcasting solution. With WebCaster, you can easily and securely scale from 100s to 100,000+ live viewers and multiple simultaneous live events.
4. How do I get MediaPlatform software? Is it something I buy, or is it a subscription type of service?
Our pricing is based on a subscription model, with a number of different options depending on how you deploy and use our products.
5. Do I need any specific hardware to use MediaPlatform products?
No, other than a PC or Mac to run the browser-based software, there’s no hardware required to use MediaPlatform products.
6. Can a presenter speak to a webcast audience using a phone?
Yes, WebCaster has the capability to let a presenter dial in to the software over the phone and have his or her voice encoded into Flash Audio for inclusion in a webcast.
7. Can I make my WebCaster player look any way I want it to?
Yes, WebCaster offers unrivaled template customization, enabling you to create webcast players that are branded and “skinned” to match your corporate image.
8. What if I have presenters in different places in a live webcast?
WebCaster supports multiple presenters and allows you to switch seamlessly from presenter to presenter or play a pre-recorded video.
9. What is WebCaster’s underlying architecture?
WebCaster is built on the Java platform using Web Services. This architecture, which is similar to enterprise “Service-Oriented Architectures,” or SOAs, is designed to enable you to connect WebCaster with a broad range of enterprise applications, such as content management systems.
10. How does Webcaster handle a multi-person production team?
WebCaster is built for Teamwork and gives you the ability to assign production roles to separate individuals, matching the makeup of your production team. Or, if you want, one person can produce the entire webcast as an individual managing all the key controls. Multiple administrators can also simultaneously operate one or more webcasts.
11. Can I get reports on my webcasts?
WebCaster offers in-depth reporting and automatic certification. It provides detailed reports about the audience, ranging from the basic “who watched and what, for how long” and geographic maps of audience members, to viewer profiles showing technical profiles and opinions from polling and Q&A.
12. How secure is WebCaster?
WebCaster is a highly secure webcasting environment, both in the SaaS and on-site deployment configurations. It provides different levels of security to align with your organization's security standards and needs. WebCaster also has LDAP and Active Directory integration for streamlined user authentication.
13. When you use the PrimeTime video content management system, do you have to store all the videos within the PrimeTime solution?
No, PrimeTime allows you to store videos in multiple repositories and content management systems, but you can still point to them from PrimeTime and enable your users to access them, watch them, and so forth, from the PrimeTime portal.
14. Can anyone watch a video that’s uploaded to PrimeTime?
Not if you don’t want them to. PrimeTime gives you the ability to set access controls, so only authorized users can see the content.
15. Can I create my own channels in PrimeTime?
Yes, PrimeTime enables you to create your own customized channels with different content.
